This is a review of an 11.5" CarPlay screen with dashcam made by Leadtree. The Model P1 has a nice, large screen and is at home in the GX. We're reviewing it with the 11" Mid Vertical Quad Slot mount by MeshHeavy.
Leadtree makes a number of these screens, and, confusingly, three different models that are all 11" screens. The largest difference between the three seems to be whether it has a dashcam or not, and where the dashcam is placed on the back. Their P9 Pro has no dashcam, P9 has a centered dashcam, and the one we're reviewing here, the P1, has an offset dashcam.
This particular model looks to be sold, also, as the Accfly 11", JoycePure 11.5, and probably others. It comes in pretty generic packaging.
We're looking at this unit specifically for CarPlay, though Android Auto is also supported.
The dash cam is offset to the passenger side, so recordings are a little biased to that angle. The lens can be telescoped up, but with the MeshHeavy mid mount, you can leave it at it's lowest setting for a clear view out the windshield. It came with a generic 64GB SD and front camera settings were defaulted to 1080P. You can raise that to 4K and it did produce 3840x2160 pixel video. Typical of integrated dash cams, resolution isn't as good as a dedicated dash cam, but fine for most needs.
The 11" size doesn't block any visibility out the windshield for me, but I'm 6' tall. Shorter, and it may become an issue. Works just fine with polarized sunglasses. This unit, like most, doesn't have an ambient light sensor, so auto dimming has to be configured for a set time range and brightness level. No issues here, but models with ambient light sensor are an obvious improvement.
Speaking of 11" size, this unit does have 1/2" bezels on the sides and 1/4" bezels top and bottom. This results in a viewable display of just over 10". It is a nice, bright display, though, and the large size make navigating a distinct improvement over previous 10" screens.
Moving through the CarPlay screens is a smooth, fluid experience.
For downsides, there are no glaring issues. You'll want to replace the generic SD card with a 'high endurance' SD card, because the dashcam, which is always recording when powered up, is constantly writing over the oldest video. They're supposed to handle heat better as well.
Because the rear connectors for this unit are on the driver side and inset pretty deeply from the sides, I'd recommend ordering the MeshHeavy mount with the connector for the cleanest look and access to the A/V In connector. I'd also recommend a right-angle Aux cable, if you're wiring up audio that way.
The MeshHeavy Mount Style you'll want to order is the . This is what we call a mid mount because the dashcam is offset to the side, thus the vertical quad slots are centered in the middle in the back.
This is a great unit, with large colorful screen. Recommended.
